
Two years after the 1st edition (2004), AIRI/Nanotec IT announce the publication of the "2nd Italian Nanotechnology Census.
A unique reference for anyone (scientific community, industry, public and private planners, financial players, etc..) who wants a comprehensive and up-to-date panorama of nanotechnology in Italy.
The first part of the volume is dedicated to a general outlook of the situation, describing the main institutes, organizations and initiatives active in Italy in nanotechnology with a statistical analysis about R&D people involved, publications, patents, education activities, divided by institution of reference, organization type and size, region.
The second part contains a detailed description of each of the 169 organization reported, synthesised in a dedicated form containing the following information:
General profile:
1) Organization name and contact info, reference person (generally the responsible of the R&D division);
2) Organization description, number of employees, number of R&D personnel. For enterprises also: size and type of company, establishment year, revenues, R&D expenditure, reference markets, more valuable products.
Commitment in nanotechnology:
1) Involvement in the sector, description of R&D activities, number of R&D personnel in nanotechnology;
2) R&D macroareas (e.g. materials, health and medical systems, data storage, etc.), themes/fields of research (e.g. fullerenes, dendrimers, drug delivery, etc., a total of 86 research themes is considered), development stage (basic, applied, development research), potential applications, available commercial products;
3) Publications, patents, cooperative projects, instrumentations and equipments (with the indication whether the instrumentations are available to third parties), educational activities.
Format: A4, 500 pages
The survey has been carried out by sending to a large number of public and private organisations a questionnaire asking detailed information about the organisation itself and its activities in nanotechnology.
The mailing list
of organisations contacted is the result of the constant monitoring activity in the field of nanotechnology carried out by Nanotec IT as part of the activities related to the mission of the Centre.
