Since 2004 AIRI/Nanotec IT periodically publishes the Italian Nanotechnology Census, basing on an extensive survey of organizations active in nanotechnologies at national level.

The Census is a unique reference for anyone (scientific community, industry, public and private planners, financial players, entrepreneurs) looking for a comprehensive and up-to-date panorama of nanotechnology in Italy.

The third edition of the Italian Nanotechnology Census (June 2011) is now available. The publication, in English, is divided in two parts:

Part 1 - Synthesis of the information gathered:
General outlook of the situation, providing information about main public and private players and the activity in the field. The information includes:

• Funding;
• Type and size of the organizations;
• Geographical distribution;
• R&D activities;
• Publications and patents;
• Applications and products;
• initiatives related to regulation and safety issues;
• Education initiatives.

Part 2 - Organization files:
Detailed description of each of the 189 organization reported, with dedicated files containing:

General profile:
1) Organization name and contact info;

2) Organization description, number of employees, number of R&D personnel. For enterprises also: size and type of company, establishment year, revenues, R&D expenditure, reference markets, more valuable products.

Commitment in nanotechnology:
1) R&D activities, number of R&D personnel in nanotechnology; potential applications and available commercial products;

2) Publications, patents, R&D grants, cooperative projects, instrumentations and equipments, health and safety initiatives, educational activities.
